TOLD AT DUSK, REMEMBERED AT DAWN
A new collection of strange stories from renowned local Poppyland author Laurence Staig has just been published. Five of the featured stories will be read by the author himself on Poppyland Radio to mark 'Fantasy & Horror Week' which runs from 28 March to 2 April.
A different story will be read on each day starting on Monday, culminating in a special bonus recording on Saturday 2 April, when the author will reveal the story of how he came to write the collection in his own words. Staig was described as "one of the great unsung masters of fantasy and horror fiction” by World Fantasy Winner critic Stephen Jones. His stories are atmospheric, with real suspense, a sense of mystery and even quirky gallows humour, but always intriguing.
"Laurence Staig writes stories that creep up quietly...and sink needle-teeth into your spine. He does in print what Hammer House of Horror did on screen - shows very nasty, yet horribly credible haunted stretches of Britain. Highly recommended and not for the nervous." Kim Newman
This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to immerse yourself in these exclusive hand-picked readings from the author himself, although if you do miss a show, you can catch up 'on demand' by visiting the Poppyland Radio website.
Was on holiday when these were broadcast but home now and will listen with the On Demand feature. Can't wait to be frightened! Paul H
Thank you Laurence! I particularly enjoyed your telling of how the stories came about.
A great mix of tales - touches of Roald Dahl - the unexpected.
What a scoop for Poppyland Radio to have the mercurial Mr Staig reading his own wonderfully quirky and unsettling words!

We very much enjoyed Laurence’s first tale today, a ghost story spookily well read. Looking forward to the rest. Richard & Ruth.
