Two Poppyland Radio disco divas - DJ Atters and DJ Fairey from The Happy Handbag Hour - have now emerged from their weekend fundraiser exhausted, exhilarated and astounded.
Describing the event as "...an absolute banger of a night", the DJs thanked the party-goers for turning out in force despite the biblical weather. The dance floor was packed, with enthusiastic sequinned funsters all looking amazing and clearly having a great time. The bar was equally busy too, with the hard-working Foundry Arms team serving thirsty and appreciative revellers all night long.
Disco Knight
Legendary local musician Bill Knight provided the sound system, which belted out floor-filler after floor-filler with DJ Atters and DJ Fairey at the controls! Disco lights, fairy lights and even bongo drums and musical instruments for jammin' were provided by DJ Funky Chicken and friends. A sparkly and very lively audience ensured their infectious enthusiasm rubbed off on everyone, a fun time was had by all whilst raising much-needed funds for Cancer Research UK.
The overwhelming total for Cancer Research UK raised was boosted by the kind generosity of many sponsors, supporters and volunteers, and matched only by the generosity of those who attended and those who couldn't make it but still donated online before and afterwards.
Silent Auction
A special silent auction attracted frantic bidding and counter-bidding for the prized lots, including a fourball at Barnham Broom Golf Club donated by Travis Perkins, a professional car valet from Poppyland Car Detailing which went for one and half times its retail value, a family ticket to see the amazing Christmas Show on Cromer Pier, Sunday Roasts from The Ship Inn, Mundesley and The White Horse, Overstrand, and a package of private Mindfulness Sessions courtesy of Big Life Coaching.
The cash donations and raffle items we received were astounding. We are completely overwhelmed by your kindness, generosity and support. Claire (DJ Fairey) and Andi (DJ Atters)
Charity Raffle
Generous local supporters donated a huge selection of raffle prizes which were bundled up into must-have, fully-loaded hampers. Sheila and Iain White ran the raffle and were run off their feet keeping up with the demand for tickets. In addition to donations at the door, the silent auction and raffle boosted the fundraising total significantly.
