How do the Poppyland Radio Awards work?
Poppyland Radio listeners nominated their favourite entries. Our VIP judges then drew up a shortlist of three finalists for each awards category.

The Gala Awards Event
The winners were revealed on 4 October at a star-studded Gala Awards Night held in the prestigious Ballroom at The Cliftonville on the Cromer seafront. Andrew Brammer, Poppyland Radio presenter and creator of the ever-popular Stumpy Sanderson's 70s Stories show, MCd the event.

Meet the Judges
We received hundreds of nominations and our VIP judges whittled them down to just three per category.

Steff Aquarone MP
Steff is our MP and lives just outside North Walsham with his wife and young family. He was raised in Blickling, and knows North Norfolk like the back of his hand.
Steff is an effective campaigner who gets things done, often leaving party politics at the door to ensure North Norfolk is always put first.

Deb Lewis
The Cliftonville Event Manager Deb creates weddings, celebrations and corporate events at the stunning art deco building. She's passionate about supporting local businesses and nurturing those relationships.
Previously, Deb spent 12 years at Cromer Pier, managing sales at the prestigious venue.

Wendy Fredericks
Wendy is the Deputy Leader of North Norfolk District Council. She has lived in north Norfolk for over 22 years, supporting community engagement and entrepreneurship.
Wendy has been a great supporter of Poppyland Radio since the early days, and has been interviewed on a diverse range of topics.

Mitch Johnson
Mitch is a radio legend. Radio royalty even! He was a presenter on Capital and Virgin Radio and the voice of dozens of TV shows from Live & Kicking to The Lottery.
Mitch has been the station voice for Heart, Smooth and Radio 2 and even pops up on Poppyland Radio these days – by far his proudest achievement!

Candy Richards
Candy is the Development Manager for East Anglia at the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). She helps to provide vital services including support, financial expertise and a powerful voice in government.
Candy is also part of the Eastern Powerhouse shadow board.
