Poppyland Radio has been presented with three original paintings by artist Gwen Crockford in a gesture of thanks to the producers behind the popular ‘Community Connectors’ show. Gwen, her fascinating story and creative talent was featured in an episode last month which showcased her work and explored the inspiration behind it.
Gwen, who cares for three close family members, was feeling overwhelmed during the dark days of Covid. In desperation, she called ‘Carers Matter’, and her support worker there suggested she try art for her ‘me time’ - something which Gwen feels is invaluable for all carers.
Art soon turned into a passion for Gwen. She joined Polly’s Art Group in East Ruston and was inspired by mentor, Nikki Saunders. Finding an outlet for her natural talent, Gwen has fallen in love with art and gone on to produce some magnificent pieces.
“When people make kind comments [about my art] it's priceless to me” Gwen Crockford
Following her generous donation, three beautiful Crockford originals are now displayed at the Poppyland Radio studio complex ‘The Pod’ for presenters, studio guests and all visitors to appreciate. Thank you, Gwen!
