Two hours of the best of funk...from the huge spectrum that is funky music. Mainly black American music from the late 60s to the present, but from other countries too - funk is universal. All types of funk will be played: soul funk, jazz funk, smooth funk, rough funk, disco funk, classic funk, sophisticated funk, cool funk.

My love for soul, funk, jazz and reggae began when I heard Wilson Pickett on a radio show in the late sixties. Until that breakthrough moment, I was hearing British pop which I then found insipid and unexciting.
Within weeks I was listening to everything black America was producing - from the soul pop of Motown to the cool jazz of Miles. And so it continues today...if it excites me and seduces me, well, I'm hooked and am delighted to share my passion with you.
You won't hear wall-to-wall ads on Poppyland Radio as that's not what listeners tune in for, and we aren't convinced they work very well anyway.
