Poppyland Radio has starring role in major live events across North Norfolk

Poppyland Radio have been 'on the road' this summer, broadcasting live at major events including The Mundesley Motor Show, Cromer Carnival and The Aylsham Show.

Mike Goldwater, Poppyland Radio director, reports that participating in these events has raised the profile of the station and many of the star presenters to an all-time-high.

"There's no better way to attract new listeners and spread the word. We've broadcast to thousands and thousands of local people who hadn't previously listened to Poppyland Radio shows. It's been a gamechanger for us, and for our sponsors."

Poppyland Radio is run by volunteers, so the support of key businesses is vital. Main station sponsor RWE is a leading partner in the delivery of the UK’s Net Zero ambitions and energy security. RWE operates three North Norfolk offshore wind projects and is rapidly becoming a major contributor to the local economy and community. RWE also sponsor the Poppyland Radio show 'Classics & Curios', presented by irrepressible DJ Mark 'Raggy' Radbourne.

The giant Poppyland Radio boombox float built by volunteers for Cromer Carnival in August was designed by 'Three Kitchen Amigos' star Gavin Smith. All the materials - literally a truckload - were generously donated by MKM Building Supplies in North Walsham. MKM also donated all the building materials last year when the new Poppyland Radio studio complex 'The Pod' was built.

Sponsors of smash hit show 'The Norfolk Treasure Hunt', Crayford & Abbs provided a brand new MG3 hybrid to escort the float on the Carnival Parade - the second largest carnival in the UK after Notting Hill! The MG3 also stars in the live Treasure Hunt shows as it zig-zags across North Norfolk to help solve the clues and find the treasure.

Currently available online via smart speakers, the website and the free app, plans to broadcast on DAB are progressing as OFCOM are due to release the North Norfolk license this year. Existing masts at Kings Lynn and Norwich don't provide sufficient coverage. Once available more locally on DAB, a massive increase in listener numbers is anticipated.

There are still some amazing show sponsorship opportunities for local businesses, with rates starting at just £150/qtr. Contact Mike Goldwater for more details.
